Physical Education
As part of their gym classes, students will participate in special programs determined by the grade they are in.
Kindergarten through second graders will participate in Kinderdance, a program combining the physical skills of creative movement, gymnastics, fitness and dance with educational concepts.
Students in third and fourth grades will participate in a martial arts program during gym class two days a week. The purpose of the martial arts training is to build with confidence, self-discipline, self-defense and a sense of accomplishment in the program’s participants.
Seventh and eighth graders will take part in American Ballroom Theater’s Outreach Program, “Dancing Classrooms”, which focuses on dance celebrating events in everyday life. This program uses social dance to increase cooperation, to improve coordination, and to explore areas of commonality, understanding, and cultural awareness.
All of the programs stress development of physical and language skills, imagination, and socialization while building self-confidence and a positive self-esteem.
