Art Program

The Art Program brings working artists into St. Charles Borromeo School to collaborate with teachers in giving visual arts education in painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking.  The goal of the program is to stimulated “visual thinking” and the creative use of materials and concepts.

Keyed to the on-going curriculum, the programs encourages students to design art projects that both draw from and lead into their more formal class work.  For example, an academic unit on ancient Greece might inspire design and motif art projects as well as philosophical and political discussions and writings assignments.

The “Studio Art Program” provides students with weekly art sessions.  Initially the school, in conjunction with the program’s Art Coordinator, hires an appropriate artist/instructor to work 2-3 days a week.  Each Teacher and hi8s or her class attends “studio-instruction” sessions every week.
